I love those articles that show you the latest in fashion ideas. These articles are full of the most amazing pictures of models wearing the latest inspiration from those famous fashion houses. (Ah, Versace) I am someone who loves fashion. I really love the art of it all. Since I also design, I know what it means to “find inspiration” and “translate that inspiration into a garment”. (That makes me wonder, is my imagination boring since my designs are so classic? Ah, a topic for another blog.) I am in awe of these brilliant designers and their creations. My challenge, how do they translate to every day? Let’s be honest, I just want my skinny black pants to look amazing for that client meeting.
We all have that one pair of classic black pants that is our “go-to” in our work uniform. The sad truth is we typically buy “work pants” and keep this perfect fitting garment away from our weekend events. Sad, in my opinion. We should give this classic more time. With a few tweaks this classic will take you from work, to formal, to weekend in a blink of an eye. Here are my 3 Looks for the perfect Skinny Black Pant!
I spent many years in the tech industry and offices are not quite as formal as other industries. In fact, there were days that I was always amazed at the lack of dress code in some of the offices I have worked in. (shorts and Birkenstocks haunt my nightmares often) Just because you have a casual office (and our store can be casual at times) it doesn’t mean you should throw out your standards. I love how Olivia Palmero is dressed in this picture. The sweater is a perfect match to these skinny pants, keeping the look casual, yet not overdressed. Perfect for those casual offices. The oversized bag and Mary-Janes keep the look professional and on-trend. The best part, you wouldn’t be embarrassed if you had to attend a last-minute client meeting.
Menswear is my favorite style. I just love the clean lines and overall sexiness that seems to project from this look. All covered up with just the right amount of skin. Grab your favorite black blazer and pair it with the skinny black pants and you ready for anything. Since we all don’t have red carpet events, a black camisole or lacy black bra would be a great complement to this look. Date night, girl’s night out, here we come!
Being at the cusp of an upcoming trend is definitely not for the faint at heart. Fashion forward looks are always fun to watch (not to mention covet). Taking your skinny black pant and pairing it with your most fashion forward pieces is a great way to stretch your wardrobe and your budget. If you are looking to master that Fashion Forward look you don’t have to be dressed head to toe in the most current looks. Let’s face it, when items are eclectic, we typically wear those pieces only once or twice a season and then move on. Remember, less is more!
