How to Wear Vintage Trends Today - Part 3

How to Wear Vintage Trends Today - Part 3

The 1980's were big years for a lot of us (Sixteen candles, anyone?) and I have to admit, I am not so sure I love seeing some of these styles repeat, but there are a few I still love.

Who knew my beloved band Tee would be something I could bring out of the closet year after year and still look cool!  It seems today's generation is embracing this trend in a big way!

Take a look at Melissa's review of the 80's and our tips on how to include them in your wardrobe.

Band Tees

By the 1980's, fashion shifted quite a bit from the two previous decades, which could be due to a major shift in music popularity. Rock and Roll became the predominant music of choice and with that came the introduction of band t-shirts. Fans and musicians alike wore their favorite bands on their clothing to support their music choices. Today, young people around the world are wearing vintage band tees as a style statement. Young celebrities like Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner are commonly caught wearing t-shirts representing AC/DC, Aerosmith and more. Not only have these t-shirts gained popularity with younger generations, but those who grew up listening to the bands are wearing them too! Our vintage t-shirts by Junk Food Clothing are the perfect way to represent your favorite bands while staying on-trend.

Our tip, be sure to pair your band tee with classic jeans and a blazer to look more polished!

Leather Pants

Not only did the Rock and Roll era bring band tees, but also black leather. Leather accessories, leather jackets, and leather pants all gained popularity during the 1980's. While leather in general has always sustained popularity, leather pants just came back into the fashion scene during this decade. Cindy Crawford sported her leather pants in the 1980's and her daughter wears them now!

Our tip, try animal-friendly leather alternatives like our I Love Tyler Madison waxed pants that are chic and comfortable, while also emulating similar styles from the 1980's.

Oversized Sweater

Oversized sweaters became the must-have item in the mid-80's after Flashdance actress Jennifer Beals sported her effortless off-the-shoulder sweater in the movie. Oversized sweaters dwindled in popularity throughout the 1990's, but now they are back and more popular than ever. Perhaps it’s the exceptional comfort they provide or their convenient versatility but whatever it is, we are more than happy that oversized sweaters are in style right now! Oversized sweaters can be worn by people of all ages, shapes, and sizes. They can be worn casually or even dressed up and maybe that’s why we love them so much!

Our tip, try a cable knit sweater like ours by C'est Moi for a cozy, trendy, and of course, classic look!
