One Year with robin b.

One Year with robin b.

Who doesn’t love birthdays? This week at robin b., we’re celebrating one especially important to us – our own! Mid-November marks the one-year anniversary since the launch of our sustainable women’s fashion boutique, both our brick-and-mortar shop and our online storefront.

It’s been one heck of a crazy year and we’re already well into devising many exciting plans for the next one (which we can’t wait to share with you!). But, before we get ahead of ourselves, we’d like to take a few minutes to reflect and recap our Year One. Take a little trip down memory lane with us as we share the highlights from our first year in business:

Our First Philanthropy Efforts

Good karma is a powerful force! In March, a few months after opening, we hosted our first in-store philanthropy effort. For our Sip, Savor and Style event, we partnered with a rep from both Henry and Belle as well as one from The Savory Grape to bring a wine education and tasting session to our store. Customers came out to mingle, sip vino, and try on stunning styles. The event was a huge success and we donated all proceeds – over $500 – to Girls on the Run organization.

Bringing in the Interns

There’s only so much you can learn in a classroom, which is why, in April, we partnered with the University of Rhode Island’s textile program to bring in students to intern at the store Over the next few months, our rock star interns learned the ins and outs of managing a fashion boutique. While there’s no denying that hands-on experience is invaluable, one of our core values is fair trade so we make sure that all of our internships are paid.

Website Overhaul and Re-Launch

Our website got a makeover! In June, we spent two weeks overhauling our online storefront to better align with the brand’s aesthetic. As we continue to grow and hear feedback, we’re constantly tweaking in an effort to be more user-friendly. Recently, we revamped the Designers pages, added a sizing chart, and altered the color selection tool on individual pieces. Stay tuned to see what other changes we make!

Launch of robin b Private Label

Always on the hunt for the perfect basic black tee, Robin got fed up of looking and decided to make her own! After two months of testing materials, cuts, and fits, the final design was put into production and both a long-sleeved and short-sleeved robin b. private label tee hit our store shelves. We can’t wait to show you what the robin b. label has up its sleeves for spring!

Shopping for a Cure

After the success of our Sip, Savor and style event, we wanted to amp up our philanthropy! In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we chose to donate 5% of October sales to the Susan G Komen organization. Thanks to you, our amazing customers, we were able to give over $1,000 to help find a cure! In addition, we had fun participating in the Pink Party Rhode Island event in which inspiring survivors modeled gorgeous designs from various local shops (including ours!).

Whew! What a year! And we couldn’t have done it without you. We want to take a moment to extend a warm thank you for shopping our boutique, following along on social media, reading our blog posts, and supporting our small business as we grow and push to change the face of the fashion industry. You truly are the reason we do what we do!

Love and Karma,

Robin Barrett Wilson
