Pretty in Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Pretty in Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

by Robin Barrett Wilson October 08, 2016 0 Comments

Let’s get a little bit personal; I’ve lost a couple of incredible people to cancer. Actually, it was after losing someone very special to me that I decided to make a life change, follow my dream, and open robin b. clothier.

For many of us, this experience hits close to home. My friends, my family, and many of you have all had to endure the hardships of either fighting the battle or witnessing a loved one do so. With this disease affecting so many of us, we all know how critical it is to support the fight against cancer.

And we’re not alone. There are a number of generous retailers who are eager to donate and support life-changing organizations. In honor of October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I’ve rounded up my favorite five ways to give (while shopping!):

Breast Cancer Awareness products - Bobbi Brown

Bobbi Brown’s Exclusive Art Stick Duo

I’ve always been a huge fan of Bobbi Brown cosmetics but their new Art Stick Duo pencils puts them on a whole other playing field! Universally flattering, these limited edition lip crayons add a classic pop of pink that will suit any complexion. The handy little sticks also double as a liner, making them perfect for the woman on the go needing a quick touch-up between meetings. Best of all, $10 from every set purchased goes towards the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, funding 20 minutes of critical, lifesaving research.

Breast Cancer Awareness products - Pure Cycles

Pure Cycles’ Beachy Bicycle

Who wouldn’t love coasting along the boardwalk on a Pure Cycles coaster bike? A little bit vintage and a whole lot of style, this subtle pink bicycle is a must-have for Rhode Island summers. Not only is it made from eco-friendly materials, but $100 of each sale will be donated to the Cure Breast Cancer Foundation!

Breast Cancer Awareness products - New Balance

New Balance’s Pink Sneakers

It’s time to swap out your old sneakers and upgrade to these vibrant pink runners! The Vazee Pace Pink Ribbon edition running shoes from New Balance are designed for speed as well as style. Pair them with dressy sweatpants for an athleisure look or use them as extra motivation to hit the gym at 6 a.m. With several other products also benefitting the Susan G Komen Foundation, you can feel good about treating yourself to a new gym outfit.

Breast Cancer Awareness products - Lux/Eros

Lux/Eros Handmade Housewares

When you shop the blush collection from Lux/Eros, you’re not only supporting The Keep a Breast Foundation, you’re also backing products handmade here in the US. Choose from pale pink plates, bowls, mugs, or vases that are adorned with sassy gold studs and embellishments. These handmade housewares make the perfect hostess gift for upcoming festivities or your can think ahead and stock up for holiday gifts!

Breast Cancer Awareness products - robin b.

Anything from robin b.!

There’s no way we’re sitting this month out! To show our support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month and our dedication to the cause, we’re donating 5% from ALL robin b. sales made in October to the Susan G Komen Foundation. Is there any better excuse to update your closet?  With everything from knit ponchos to faux-fur vests in store, you can shop with heart while staying warm in our unique, fair trade pieces.

If you’re local to Rhode Island and looking for more ways to take part in Breast Cancer Awareness Month, mark October 22nd on your calendar and come out to the annual Pink Party fashion show! Benefiting The American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer organization, the show features gorgeous models – all survivors themselves – showing off stunning styles from local businesses (including robin b.!). The event has raised $20,000 in past years and, with your help, we can bring in even more this year!

Let’s all do our part to make a change! Shop our boutique clothing online or come into our Rhode Island store to make your contribution towards finding a cure. For more ways to give, follow along on Pinterest, Facebook, and Instagram where we’ll be highlighting more pink campaign products and events.
