After a long, hot and busy summer, your skin deserves some serious R&R time. Kick off your weekend and take part in #SelfCareSaturday by creating your very own at home spa experience!
Here’s our quick and easy guide that’ll have you unwinding in no time:

At home spa experience - Set the mood with Porcelain and Stone candles

Set the tone

Atmosphere is everything. There’s no way you can relax if you’re staring at your computer or chasing after kids. Schedule some serious you-time and escape to a quiet place where you can set the mood by lighting your favorite candles. We love our new Porcelain and Stone Buoy Vessel Candle as its gentle colors and natural textures just scream “at home spa!” With aromas of gardenia, jasmine, lilac, and lemon zest, this indulgent candle will instantly soothe your senses.

At home spa experience - Fig+Yarrow facial treatments feel luxurious and work magic

Skin care to the rescue!

The summer can really do a number on our sensitive skin. From sunburns to dryness to the wear and tear of traveling, your poor self has been put through the ringer. It’s time to refresh your beauty routine and save your skin with nourishing, botanically-rich products. We’re all about natural – especially when it comes to what we’re putting in and on our bodies – so we love Fig+Yarrow’s line of beauty and bath products.

Start by swapping out your drugstore face wash for a cleansing nectar that gently exfoliates and draws out impurities. Then, a few times a week, get rid of that dead and dull skin by applying a facial scrub for a more radiant complexion. Lastly, finish off your daily spa treatment at home by keeping your skin moisturized and hydrated with reparative serums, a silky, hydrating cream, and therapeutic complexion water.

Go ahead ladies - treat yourself! You deserve it!

At home spa experience - Soothe your skin with a DIY matcha lavender face mask

Indulge with some DIY

Once you’ve rescued your skin with salves, scrubs, and serums, it’s time to bring back that glow with a soothing, detoxifying face mask! We whipped up our very own DIY matcha and lavender face mask that will have everyone believing you just stepped out of the spa. Here’s how you can bring out the brightness and create a spa treatment at home with just a few things from your kitchen:

 Combine:

  • 2 Tbsp. plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tsp. raw honey
  • 1 tsp. matcha green tea powder
  • 1-2 drops of lavender essential oil
(Try to use organic ingredients when you can!)

Greek yogurt is the yummy base for our DIY face mask! Not only is it good for your body, but it’s packed with the probiotics, calcium, and live bacteria that make for gorgeous, glowing skin. Our favorite yogurt also contains lactic acid which does double duty acting as a gentle scrub and natural cleanser.

The next ingredient for your home spa treatment is raw honey – it’s high in the antioxidants that eliminate radicals and yucky bacteria. When applied to the skin, honey also attracts moisture so it nourishes while it cleanses.

Time for that vibrant, green matcha powder! Another superfood, matcha is just as good for your skin as it is for your body. This powdered green tea is full of chlorophyll which literally pulls toxins out of your skin. It’s also a natural anti-inflammatory, reducing any redness or post-long weekend sunburn, helping your skin heal itself faster.

The last step is to add 1-2 drops of lavender essential oil. Not only is it a soothing scent that’ll instantly have you in relaxation mode, lavender oil also inhibits bacteria and can reduce signs of scars and blemishes.

Once you’ve mixed all of the ingredients together, apply the mixture liberally to your neck and face and allow yourself to relax for 20 minutes. Once your mask has had some time to work its magic, wash off your home spa treatment with warm water and treat your skin with a nourishing moisturizer.
